Good Canadian Classic Rock

... is not an oxymoron! Check this out for a great example of good, honest rock and roll. Random Ax is the creation of Jeff Lung, songwriter and vocalist, from Edmonton, Alberta. That's yours truly playing bass on this track and Mike Rathbone on drums. This was a second take live track recorded at the West Edmonton Music Society on a Thursday evening when we all had only music on our minds.

Overtaxed? You be the judge...

Canadian governments collectively garnered a surplus of $29 billion in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007, according to Statistics Canada. All levels of government were included in this study, so there are some which recorded higher surpluses, and some less. We've seen increases in spending for education, health, and social services, and we pay hundreds of millions of dollars each year in debt services charges.

Clearly, if the sundry levels of government are taking so much money from John Q. Public in taxes, could we not find a way to spend such enormous amounts of money more effectively? I mean, less golfing and international travel, expensed dinners and redundant committee work and studies. Maybe, if the governments are collecting more money than they spend, they should give it back? I can always dream...
